Police released a sketch today of a man who tried to abduct a 13-year-old boy in the South Chicago neighborhood last week.
On July 24, the boy was walking in the 8900 block of South South Chicago Avenue about 10:30 a.m. when a man male in a burgundy sport-utility vehicle pulled up next to him, according to a police alert. The man told the boy he would give him money for sex.
The boy ran away through a nearby park, went home, and told one of his parents, according to police.
The man was last seen driving north on South Chicago Avenue.
The man was described as black, between 30 and 35 years old, about 6 feet tall, with a slender build and medium complexion. He was bald. At the time of the attempted abduction, he was wearing a pink polo shirt and tan khaki shorts.
The SUV was a new model vehicle, possibly a Tahoe.
