PHOTO: Eric Carey, 46A man who worked as a security guard at the Tribune Tower is in jail on charges that he forced two teenage girls to have sex with him, his landlord and another man in exchange for food, money and rent, authorities said.
Eric Carey, 46, is charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and is being held on $500,000 bail, according to court records.
Carey, of south suburban Phoenix, was arrested after an investigation found that he had forced two teenage girls to have sex with his landlord and his friend, said Lt. George Hillman, a detective with Phoenix Police.
At the time of his arrest on Friday night, Carey worked for the Tribune Co. as a security guard at the Tribune Tower on North Michigan Avenue, police said. His supervisor refused to comment Tuesday night.
Hillman would not reveal the ages of the girls. He said both are juveniles who were left with Carey by their mother when she moved to Iowa.
The girls lived with Carey in his apartment for nine months, Hillman said, and he made them have sex with him in exchange for food.
Carey allegedly arranged for the girls to begin having sex with his landlord, Ramiro Orozco, 32, so that Carey wouldn’t have to pay his $800 monthly rent, Hillman said. Later, Carey allegedly let his friend, Nelson Harris Jr., 60, have sex with the girls for food and money, police said.
Police began the investigation as a result of a tip given to the state Department of Child and Family Services, Hillman said. Charges were filed on Saturday.
Both Orozco and Harris have been charged with aggravated sexual assault. Bond for Orozco was set at $100,000 and bond for Harris was set at $75,000, authorities said.
